Accident & Emergency Services at Kingston Soldiers' Memorial Hospital
Our doctors provide services at the Accident and Emergency Department as private practitioners. Fees may apply for outpatient treatment.
If you are admitted to hospital, you may choose to be treated as either a public or private patient. If you elect to be admitted as a private patient, the relevant private health billing will be issued by Kingston Medical Centre.
What we provide
- When you arrive, a nurse will assess your condition and determine the most appropriate care pathway
- This may include advice, a telehealth consultation, further assessment, or in-person treatment by a GP
- If you are admitted to the hospital, there will be no charge for the GP consultation
- Our GPs hold admitting rights to Kingston Soldiers' Memorial Hospital
- We participate in the local on-call roster to assist with emergency presentations and inpatient care
- Dr Alex Wells holds the IEMTP qualification through ACEM and is working towards Rural Generalist fellowship with Emergency Medicine Advanced Specialist Training
Who is this for?
Anyone in Kingston and the surrounding Limestone Coast communities requiring emergency or urgent medical attention.
What to expect
If your condition is serious or life-threatening — such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe injury, or sudden illness — please attend the Emergency Department immediately or call 000. If your condition is not urgent but you are unsure, you are welcome to attend and the team will assess and direct your care appropriately.
